They look so contented basking in the sun. It must be a chore for them to move on the land - they look so heavy, where under the water they can easily glide along.

Why is it that we love turtles so much? I can sit on the beach in Puako and watch the turtles for ever. Not that they move much. Mostly they enjoy their sun bathe and don't actually move at all.

Then on the other hand, you watch them swimming, sticking out their heads, and suddenly they are gone. Just wait till somebody points at the water and for certain, there is the (a) turtle again!

I hope they will be around for many years to come, provided we let them.
