Thanks for visiting. To all of you who remarked on the color in that photo, "sea water viewed from beneath the surface comes in many hues and shade" (quoting from the sidebar of this blog!).<BR/><BR/>The shade in the photo is almost "the Right Blue." We prefer it a tad darker. What color it looks to the eye, and to the camera lens, depends on a lot of things, but mostly on how clear the water is (or not) and how bright the ambient light is (or not). Usually, the deeper you go, the darker it is, because more and more of the light gets filtered by the water (and particles in the water) on the way down.<BR/><BR/>Many of my photos -- especially the closeups -- are artificially lit with a strobe. Wide angle shots like the one on this page can't be artificially lit unless you have huge movie lights, with electric cables running to the surface.
