Very cool photos and story. I did a study on fossil sea turtles for my Master's in 2005. I wish I had known about this back then. There is a real shortage of information on marine vertebrate taphonomy.

Thanks, Bernie. Getting the photos was a little tricky since it was completely black inside that cave. To set up each shot, Jerry shined his dive light on the subject so that I'd know where to aim the camera, and we had to be extremely careful not to stir up any silt, which would have spoiled the shot.

@ Shannon - Yes, it really was a bit eerie, and we've never seen anything like that anywhere else. The Sipadan Turtle Cave is a "one of a ind" sort of place.
