Whale sharks, mantas, stingrays, barracuda, jacks...

What else can you identify in this wonderful video shot at the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium in Japan?

Said to be the second largest aquarium tank in the world*, Jon Rawlinson, the videographer, explains:
The main tank called the 'Kuroshio Sea' holds 7,500-cubic meters (1,981,290 gallons) of water and features the world's second largest acrylic glass panel, measuring 8.2 meters by 22.5 meters with a thickness of 60 centimeters. Whale sharks and manta rays are kept amongst many other fish species in the main tank.

  2. Very appropriate song "Please Don't Go". The loss of our Marine Life is now at an astounding number. Only 1% of Whales exist today which were on the Planet before commercial Whaling began, (and they are still being slaughtered by Japan, Norway, Iceland, Danish Faroe Islands). The same applies to Fish due to overfishing and poaching, gross amounts of "by-catch" causing the deaths of species not targetted, sharks of all species killed/poached for their Fins only (for Sharkfin Soup) with live bodies thrown back left to bleed to death.
    Of all the Fish which should never be in captivity are Whale Sharks which can be seen here. These creatures are still very young and will never live to maturity in that tank. Every Whale Shark Georgia Aquarium has captured has died within a year or so and they have been replaced by new ones. Is this what humans should be doing to our wildlife? To our precious little left of Marine Life?
    People - please wake up! Beautiful to see, but most of them will die in that tank! All for your amusement.

  5. Mahalo Bobbie and Jerry for posting this youtube video. I must admit I was immediately captivated by all the abundance and variety of ocean creatures in that aquarium. Awesome!

    I do understand though the concerns by anonymous about the short lived lives of those fish in that tank but maybe this is what it takes to wake up people and make them aware what we will lose if we don't take action to protect our oceans and the ocean life in them!

    Just my humble opinion...
