I think this is amazing. It's obvious why it's called "brain" coral. They could have called it worm coral and it would have been a good name too. Excellent shot. :-)
Okay, I'm sure there's a pun to be made here somewhere, along the lines of those "This is your brain" publice service announcements, but I'm only on my first coffee, so I can't quite put it together... Super WW shot, anyway!
Another great shot. Interesting that is looks a bit related to my WW. I think your idea of a mud wasp is correct. I linked a bunch of Google images to a comment on my WW post. There are many that look similar.
The Right Blue refers to the goal of a lifelong pursuit. Sea water viewed from beneath the surface comes in many hues and shades. Surfers wait for the perfect wave; divers seek the right blue.

My entry for Watery Wednesday is posted here. Happy mid-week!
What a great image. The textures and curves could be abstract art.
That is such a great image. Love the close up.
Nice picture
Wild. A bit creepy looking, to me. Great shot.

I sometimes wish my brain looked this neat and tidy.
Incredible to think that was all made by tiny organisms! And photographed so beutifully, too!

Not a maze--but amazing nonetheless! This is fascinating stuff.
I would have never guessed what this was. Wonderful photo.
IT could also look like worms, spaghetti (with only butter) and even a brain. :-)
Great picture this week, as usual
Thanks, everyone.

I always see this stuff on documentaries. Very cool.
Hi ScienceGuy - Yes, there are many varieties of corals that have a "brain" pattern on their surface.
