Not-Quite-Wordless, Special Tuesday/Wednesday Edition
The Right Blue celebrates its first birthday on July 15, 2008. To mark the occasion, we thought we'd post some of our favorite underwater photos this week and next, as a review. All of these have appeared as illustrations to our articles over the past year, but have not appeared before as Wordless Wednesday images.
We know that some Wordless Wednesday visitors only come to see the images, not the articles, but just in case you'd like to read the stories, too, we're including a link to the article where each photo first appeared. We hope you enjoy these photos -- all of which are Bobbie's original work.

Mine in here and here Thanks
amazing shots u had. happy blog anniversary
My WW in here
Happy blogversary! Happy WT & WW! (mine is that way also, I post dated.)
My vote is for The 'eyes' have it.
..
Each and everyone of them has it's own beauty :)
Thanks, Bobbie. That nice horse belongs to our neighbor. I have ridden her once.
..
What spectacular pictures you have!
and to answer your question, yes, she has few different colors to match her outfit, but her favorite is blue.
What superb photos. Happy birthday. May there be many more to come. I must visit more often so I have aded you to my blogroll..
Nice one for WW! Mine's up hope you can drop by. Happy WW!
Thank you all for visiting and for your nice comments.
So far, only Jim has selected a favorite from among the six photos we posted. (He voted for the octopus macro = "The 'eyes' have it.")
@ Jams - Thank you very much for adding The Right Blue to your blogroll.
Bobbie
I like 'The eyes have it' best! Happy blogiversary! :o) And thanks for the visit and comment on my caged crickets.
Outstanding! Thanks. Happy Anniversary.
Wow, Bobbie - all of them are amazing photos of sea creatures and I am having difficulty which one I like best. I would say the cross-eyed cone shell is my favorite - it is very rare to see shots like that! Happy Anniversary and looking forward to more years of excellent photos :)
All magnificent, but if I have to choose I'm going for Muck Diving!
Happy Birthday!
The first photo blew me away -- clear and crisp, tight cropping, no distractions, and did I know whelks had eyes? (Yes, if I think about it, but I've never found one that was still inhabited. )
The third photo is terrific too, and comical with its crossed eyestalks.
The photo of the comb jelly would be excellent for an anti-ocean-littering campaign; it looks much more like a clear plastic bag than the more tentacly jellies do. Plus it's a superb shot.
These are just amazing. Wow! How can I possibly pick a favorite? I didn't know those little shells had eyes inside. :-D
Lots of pictures today. I like the eyeball theme - especially the tiny ones. There is such a variety in ocean creatures. Your WWs are always so interesting and educational.
I am so glad I found your site through Wordless Wednesday! Happy first birthday. I am a shell collector - they are usually empty by the time I find them (which is FINE with me!), but we do occasionally find live mollusks and put them back. I find marine life endlessly fascinating, if slightly icky at times (jellyfish - ugh!). I'll be bookmarking your site to enjoy later in greater detail!

I really like the shot of the hermit crab. You get a good sense of it's environment. Happy B-day!
Cool ! Beautiful underwater photos !
Awesome shots, well taken !
Happy Blog Anniversary !
Take more photos & continue blogging, writing, uploading & sharing !

Thanks to all of you for visiting.
To those of you who commented that you were surprised to see eyeballs sticking out of shells, they belong to the snail that lives inside, of course. When you find an empty shell on the beach, you never get to see those.
@ Tink - Welcome to The Right Blue. I saw some Sanibel Island photos on your blog. For those who may not be familiar with that spot in Florida, it is known as the shell-collecting capital of the world -- with good reason.
Tally so far for the favorite shot of these six:
octopus macro (the'eyes' have it: 2
cross-eyed cone shell: 2
hermit crab: 1
Lavender mentioned 3 photos that she liked. If we have a tie at the end, we'll see if her votes are a tie-breaker.
Bobbie
Your site is so awesome. Every time I come here you've got something really good. I s'pose I like the cross-eyed guy the best, but they seriously are all killer kool. Happy WW *big huggies*
They are so cute! Thanks for your visit earlier. I am a die-hard Nikon DSLR user as well. Happy WW! :)
happy 1st! great great photos here! and thanks for dropping by:)
Those are all great shots. Happy first blog birthday. Thanks for visiting my blog and to answer your question the bird is a mockingbird. Happy WW.
I too love macros! And you under water macros are a feast to eyes. :)
Thanks for your valuable comment at my site. :)
Great shots, but the octopus eyes are my favorite!
Absolutely beautiful. I cant wait to go to Hawaii some day. Happy WW.
Oh my GOSH..how fantastic. I just sent my hubby the link. What a wonderful place to live to be able to take advantage of such under sea life..sigh...And the instructions and details..thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Meeting critters eyeball to eyeball. That was really cool. Happy WW.
Awesome shots just awesome! Always a pleasure to view your photography. Happy Blog anniversary.
Great photos as always. I love the little eyeballs.
Happy Birthday Right Blue!
Gorgeous! Photographically, I think I like the octopus best, but for sheer interest it's all the shellfish with their little eyes poking out - how much more impressive than the empty shells that wash up on the beach.
They're all great photos, of course.
Perhaps the first photo and the "macro" shot that looks like a mushroom are the ones that resonate the most, they remind me of my own interest in architectural photography.
Thanks for all the great blog-birthday wishes.
I think the Octopus (the 'eyes' have it) is winning the popularity contest followed by the cross-eyed cone shell.
Bobbie
Fantastic photography, superb colors and clarity. It was if I was right there swimming with the fish!!
Happy 1 Year Birthday "The Right Blue"! Hoping your next years will be just as successful if not more!!

Mountain Retreat Photos
Amazing photos! The eyes on that creature are unbelievable!
Awesome photographs.
Thank you for stopping by my blog.
I like them all, but I especially like the second one about macro photography.
I'd have to say "The Eyes Have It". Happy Birthday!
Bobbie & Jerry, I like the feather dusters below...All you shots are marvelous, I've always thought so! Happy Birthday! :)
Just don't know what to write ! it's such another world and so beautiful ! Happy blog anniversary !
It's hard to pick one, they're all so good. I know how hard it is to get good macro shots of model trains, where you can control the environment. I' trying to imaging doing it in an ocean in motion.
I think I like the cone shell best. It reminds me of shell hunting, something I did when I used to dive too. Many years ago. I was fortunate enough to live in the Seychelles for a year.
great shots.
thanks for visiting my WW @ http://belles-lettresofmilet.romelettedlopez.com
Great photos! My favorite is #2.
Happy Belated Blog Birthday too! I started the same day you did!
Beautiful work !!
Oh wow, such striking imagery! I really love all the shots. :)
As usual, spectacular shots Bobbie took. I am very fond of the cross-eyed one, but also the 'eyes' have it.
Happy WW

Happy Blogversary! I like them all as they are all beautifully taken..Thanks for the blog visit.Happy WW.
bobbie, as you can see we love all of your photos. it's so hard to choose one over the other. ok if i have to, i take the 'Feather Dusters' from the birthday post. aloha, pua
Happy Birthday! I love your photography and I also love your articles on diving, and learning to dive. I look forward to reading more.
Wow, lots of comments today. We appreciate all of them. Thank you all for visiting to help us celebrate our blog birthday.
Looks like the octopus (the 'eye' have it) is ahead of all the others in votes for a favorite, but not by much.
Mary the teach and Pua made us chuckle with their votes for the feather dusters in the previous post. Well why not?
Bobbie
Great pictures! July 15th is a great day...it's my wedding anniversary!
Great phtos. Thanks for commenting on my blog. Yours is excellent.
ohhh they are beautiful set of underwater pictures. i love the top one shot best.
happy WW and thanks for the visit.
talking about the buddha carving in the mountain -- it took them thousand years tomake it i guess.
oppsss...Happy Blog bday!
thanks for dropping by my site.
your images are beautiful -- thank-you for sharing them.
I like the first one. It has amazing detail and I kept coming back to it like, "What IS that??" LOL
Living on the shore of the "World's largest natuarl aquarium" ( Jacques Cousteau), the Gulf of California, I relate 100% to your fotos.
I am also an avid shell collector ( only those shells vacated by their inhabitants ).
Gorgeous fotos.
I will be back to read.
Your fotos are gorgeous.
@ Natalie - Yep. July 15 apparently is a pretty good date. (I left you an anniversary message on your blog.)
@ scienceguy - Thanks. I'm a subscriber to your feed.
@ sunshine - Thanks for the info about the Buddha carving. Just amazing.
@ Shae Shae - To answer your question, those eyes belong to the big snail that lives inside that shell. It's called a "Milk conch" and it's native to the Caribbean Sea.
@ Baja Susan - Welcome to The Right Blue. I collect shells, too -- also the uninhabited ones. If they still have a critter inside, I "collect" them by taking their picture!
And, as of this writing, the eyes of the Milk Conch (the first photo) now is the favorite photo, with one more vote than the Octopus.
Bobbie
These photos are simply amazing! Happy birthday! Seems like a lot of my bloggy friends are celebrating their first year right now.
BTW, the secret for my WW entry is now revealed!
Happy Blog Birthday to you!! Hard to believe it has been a year - glad to have found you in this WWW ocean!
@ Pete - Thanks. I just had a look at your site: Mystery solved! (And thanks for the link love...)
@ Kathy - It is hard to believe it's a year. And the feeling is mutual -- I guess we found each other's blogs, and that was a very good thing!
Bobbie
