My husband is thinking taking a dive trip to Manado. I will have to show him this shot (and last weeks too) The blue star fish is pretty, are there any colors they don't come in? Happy WW!

Seems like there are some colors that you can only see under the sea. I don't know of anything that is that color of blue on land. Hey - is that the "right blue"?
It reminds me of these big bluish-orange sea stars that come ashore in St. Augustine. They're everywhere in the tidal pools and my daughters love to save them by bringing them back to the sea.

To all of you who have said you'd never seen a blue sea star before, this particular one is relatively common in Indo-Pacific waters.
@ Shannon - The Manado area is a fantastic dive destination. Tell your husband to spend as much time as possible at the Bunaken Island marine park. It is fabulous.
@ napaboaniya - Umm, yeas. I guess you could say we like diving. ;-}
@ Chris - Yes, you are right. That color is uncommon in nature -- at least for critters. I guess it is the right blue -- for that species, at least!
@ Pete - Lucky daughters you have to get to play in tide pools. I'm sure the sea stars appreciate being "saved." ;-}
@ Jim - To be honest, I DO use two fingers on each hand, most of the time. Sure wish I had learned to touch type, though...
@ Daisy - Now that you mention it, he does look like he's about to dance.
@ Kyla - I saw the photos you posted from Barbados. I just knew that you and Alex would have a marvelous time there.
@ Mon@rch - Given your intense love of nature, I really hope you have an opportunity to visit the underwater world one of these days.
@ Robert - I encourage you to do just what you said you'd like to do: get back to scuba diving.
@ Jennifer - You are not the only one who feels claustrophobic when wearing a dive mask. It's actually quite a common reaction. Try again some time -- someplace sheltered and un-scary.
@ Kathy - Sea stars in this genus (Linckia) are all kind of plump like this one, and their skin is a bit like textured rubber. Other species in this genus come in different colors - pink, greyish, red, pale green -- even purple!
@ ZJ - Your blog always provides a lot of "eye treats," too. I love your travel photos.
