In honor of Valentine's Day, here are two little fishies looking like they are about to smooch! Usually we see just one Lantern Toby (Canthigaster epilampra) at a time, not a pair.
I took the photo at Puako, Hawaii near the mouth of a small underwater cavelet, at a depth of about 25 feet (8 m), but this species usually lives in deeper water.
So, it was a lucky find -- a pair, and at a relatively shallow depth.

sometimes when I'm cranky my husband says I kiss like a fish. that's what I thought when I saw your awesome pic.

Wow, are rare find: a pair and in water not as deep as usual. Then they go and look like they are kissing. They must have known you would need something for the WW before Valentine's Day!

I lost wednesday somewhere...not sure where it went. Myst have been all those shellshocked hours I spent in Walmart today. Happens every time they let me off the gravel spit.
